Keyfix supplied 2,982m of NCCT, including 1,440 Pre-Formed Corners and Stainless Steel Weeps, providing continuous cavity drainage and fire-safe performance across the façade.

The £70 million new build project, overseen by main contractor Graham Construction, KKA Architecture, and brickwork contractor Caxton Builders Ltd, involved the design and construction of 661 student bedrooms, including 417 studios, 208 cluster apartments and 36 accessible rooms.

Additionally, a range of purposeful spaces inspired by student insight, such as a state-of-the-art gym, a landscaped garden and a festival zone with meeting rooms and breakout areas, were also implemented.

With the brickwork contractor having previously worked with Keyfix, and sister company, IG Masonry Solutions, it was widely acknowledged that Keyfix’s ability to design and manufacture non-combustible systems for use in major residential and student accommodation developments would be crucial for the project’s success.

Consequently, the company’s proven record of meeting tight deadlines and providing necessary guidance and support throughout any project saw Keyfix tasked with providing its NCCTs to comply with, and exceed, current building regulations while supporting the project’s design ambitions.

To ensure robust and trusted passive fire protection without requiring sealants, tapes or mastics, Keyfix supplied 2,982m of NCCT, including 1,440 Pre-Formed Corners and 9,900 Stainless Steel Weeps, providing continuous cavity drainage and fire-safe performance across the façade.
