Keyfix supplied 5,441m of NCCT, including 981 Pre-Formed Corners, 13,750 Stainless Steel Weeps and 1365 reveal returns ensuring continuous cavity drainage and fire-safe performance across the façade.
The project, overseen by main contractor, Keady Construction, primary architect Leach Rhodes Walker, and brickwork contractor Brickstone Construction, involved the extensive design and construction of a unique curved brick structure that would feature 399 apartments and generous amenity space.
Having worked with Keyfix previously, Brickstone Construction was acutely aware of the company’s ability to design and manufacture non-combustible systems suitable for use in major residential developments, meet tight deadlines and provide any necessary support and guidance throughout the project.
Consequently, Keyfix was tasked with providing its NCCTs which exceeds min standards, while also supporting the project’s highly original design ambitions.
Indeed, with the building featuring a challenging brickwork design that incorporated significant curvature, Keyfix was required to devise a way of allowing the contractors to install the NCCTs around the curve. Consequently, small welds were implemented on the NCCTs to allow them to follow the shape of the curve.
“To ensure robust and trusted passive fire protection without requiring sealants, tapes or mastics, Keyfix supplied 5,441m of NCCT, including 981 Pre-Formed Corners, 13,750 Stainless Steel Weeps and 1365 reveal returns ensuring continuous cavity drainage and fire-safe performance across the façade.”
With the client keen to future-proof the building and meet ever-tightening quality and safety standards, Keyfix’s classified Class A1 Non-combustible Grade 304 austenitic stainless steel cavity trays provided the ideal solution. In addition to offering rigid self-support, and preventing the risk of thermal bridging, these NCCTs are designed to exceed the lifespan of any building.
Alongside providing quick response times to any technical guidance or queries, Keyfix’s technical team also regularly undertook site visits to check on the project’s progress, attended design team meetings and carried out toolbox talks and CPD webinars.
By meeting all demanding performance and aesthetic requirements while maintaining quality across the project and streamlining installation, Keyfix delivered a fully integrated façade solution.
